ENGINEERING:

Payne & Brockway seeks a Design Engineer with 3-5 years experience. This position will include both office and field responsibilities.

  • Prepare plans for site design.
  • Prepare Stormwater Reports and Floodplain Analyses
  • Perform storm sewer, sanitary sewer, water line and street design for development projects.
  • Supervise production of SWPPP/NOI permits
  • Utilize strong organizational and communication skills to assist our management team in providing high-quality service to our client base

Desired Skills & Experience

 

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Civil Engineer
  • Registered Professional Engineer in Kansas
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and working knowledge of Microsoft Office programs
  • Experience with stormwater modeling software (HEC-RAS, Pond Pack and HY-8)
  • Experience in AutoCAD Civil 3D 2012 or equivalent CAD program a plus
  • Possess excellent organization and communication skills and the ability to interact with professionals on development projects
  • Ability to meet project deadlines within given budget limits and time frames
  • Ability to prioritize and multi-task assigned projects, and work with minimal supervision
  • Ability and focus on Quality Control/Quality Assurance

SURVEY DEPARTMENT:

Payne & Brockway seeks a Survey Crew Chief. The candidate must be highly motivated and interested in growing with our company. Well qualified applicants should have 3 years of experience as a survey crew leader in ALTA, topographic and construction surveys. As well as a basic knowledge of AutoCAD Civil 3D or Microstation. Responsibilities of this role include, but are not limited to:

  • Uses automated surveying instruments to perform Land Surveys (i.e. leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, construction surveys, etc.).
  • Takes neat and orderly field notes for Land Surveys (i.e. leveling, traversing, topographic mapping, as-built surveys, boundary surveys, construction surveys, etc.).
  • Understands basic sources of measurement errors.
  • Interprets records and data sheets to locate points in the field.
  • Reads and understands civil construction plans (i.e. site plans, highway plans, profiles and cross sections, horizontal and vertical curves, and foundation plans).
  • Understands and adheres to Land Surveying ethics and technical standards.

Candidates are required to possess the following:

    • High school diploma or equivalent required.
    • Have and maintain a valid Driver’s License
    • KS or MO Licensed or Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) a plus
    Payne & Brockway does work primarily in the KC Metro area and does not anticipate any travel associated with this position. The wages associated with this position vary based upon candidate’s previous experience, salary history and qualifications.

    AutoCAD Survey Technician:

    Payne & Brockway is currently seeking an AutoCAD Survey Technician. The AutoCAD Survey Technician works independently under the supervision of the RPLS. Their primary responsibility is to complete CAD drawings of plot plans for residential construction and land surveys (e.g. ALTA/NSPS land title surveys, boundary surveys, topographic surveys) from the raw field data collected. Additionally, their role involves working with deed research, plat information, property legal descriptions and all other survey information related to the drawings. Candidates must be highly motivated and interested in growing with our company. Well qualified applicants should have a minimum of 3 years of land surveying and AutoCAD experience.

    Other Responsibilities and Qualifications:

    • Prepare ALTA/NSPS Land Title Surveys, Boundary Surveys, Topographic Surveys, Exhibits, etc.
    • Must be able to read Architectural & Civil Plans
    • Must be proficient with AutoCAD and Microsoft Office tools including Microsoft Excel and Word
    • Ability to perform in a fast-paced environment
    • Ability to multi-task
    • Strong writing and verbal communications skills
    • Have and maintain a valid driver’s license
    • KS or MO Licensed or Land Surveyor in Training (LSIT) a plus
